Hank's professional life is, simply stated, all about underwriting. He has 30 years' experience with two leading insurers, a reinsurer and as senior VP of a major service firm. Hank has written and spoken more on underwriting than anyone in industry history, including 350 articles and papers, plus three previous books.
Hank founded the leading underwriting magazine, On the Risk and the global underwriting conference International Underwriting Congress. He is an ex-president of the national US underwriters association and an active member of the Canadian and Australian associations. He chairs four industry study groups, writes for the two leading industry publications, The National Underwriter and Best's Review, and also publishes two e-newsletters, Hot Notes and JournalScan, with a combined circulation of 1,750 in 44 countries.
Hank's specialty is medical underwriting. He is an acknowledged expert on laboratory tests and cancer, and has prepared 108 comprehensive continuing education programs covering just about every medical subject. He has spoken at clinical chemistry and forensic medicine association conferences, served as a panelist on the National Institutes of Health's Consensus Conference on Precursors to Melanoma and lectured on melanoma pathology to an all-physician audience.
Hank is also an accomplished public speaker. In addition to addressing the MDRT's main platform and the Top of the Table – on two occasions each – he has lectured at producer conferences from Perth, Australia to Halifax, Nova Scotia...and most points in between. He has done over 200 presentations at sales conferences for BGAs and insurers.
